Abstract:

Interactive parallel coordinates software can be used very effectively for exploratory data analysis of data sets with many continuous variables. There the aims are to find out more about the data and to identify features worth further investigation. In exploratory modelling analysis the aims are different. We have a possibly large number of well-fitting models and we want to both understand their relative performance better and select a "best" model or subgroup of models. The interactive flexibility of CASSATT is particularly valuable for this kind of application and we discuss examples from survival analysis and loglinear modelling.
