Abstract:
|
In medical oncology, phase II studies evaluate activity of anticancer drugs by evaluating the proportion of patients who respond to therapy. Response is usually measured as tumor shrinkage beyond some criterion. Not all patients' tumors respond within the same amount of time, however, and the time factor is generally not considered when monitoring phase II studies. We describe a method for incorporating time until response to add information to monitoring phase II clinical studies. We illustrate the method and make comparisons to designs in common use.
