Abstract:

A new test for homogeneity across levels of a stratifying variable is developed and applied. The approach uses a refinement of the Bayesian approach to assessing likelihood-based departure. Applications to standard contingency tables, as well as genetic settings, are examined. The test is not affected by sample size considerations beyond those implicit in likelihood determination and is exact in the presence of small cell counts.
