Title: Robust and Smoothed Corrected Contents for Tolerance Intervals
Author(s): Luisa Fernholz*+
Affiliation(s): Temple University
Address: Speakman Hall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19122, USA
Keywords: tolerance intervals ; smoothed bootstrap ; corrected content ; robust statistics
Abstract:

The method for correcting the content of k-factor tolerance intervals introduced by Fernholz and Gillespie (2001) is generalized to include robust tolerance intervals and smoothed corrected contents. The procedure can be used for the traditional tolerance limits as well as for robust versions. The asymptotic theory is developed and the robustness properties are studied. Small sample simulations and real-data examples are presented to show the usefulness of this method.
