Abstract:

The case control studies tend to have a higher false positives rate in the presence of population stratification. Recently, some methods have been proposed using genomic markers to control for population stratification. However, in continuous admixture population, these methods often do not perform well. In this paper, we propose a semiparametric association test to detect genetic association between a candidate marker and a qualitative trait of interest in case-control design. The performance of the test is compared to other existing methods. The results show that our method gives correct type I error rate and has higher power comparing to other methods, especially in continuous admixture population.
