Abstract:
|
Information collected by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEO-1) provides a unique data base for analyzing work force data with occupational and industrial variables. This research examines occupational segregation based on gender at the industry level by using the relatively new North American Industrial Classification codes. Analyses rely on segregation indices developed for research concerning both equal employment opportunity and school desegregation. Methods for drawing inferences from the indices and for isolating segregation from the officials' and managers' job group are examined at the industry level.
