Abstract:

Statisticians in multi-disciplinary departments experience demands on their time, professional development and promotion challenges, and exciting research collaborations that are different from experiences of statisticians in statistics departments, consulting firms, or industry. Participants will discuss guidelines for statistical support on research projects, expectations for promotion within their university, and hints for working effectively with economists, health care providers and others. Generation of additional discussion topics is expected throughout the luncheon conversation about the joys and difficulties of statisticians in health policy research departments.
