Abstract:
|
Much of health services research relies on access to extensive and complete data about patient characteristics, patterns of care, and outcomes. Growing concerns about privacy, new regulations affecting transfer of data (especially those under the Health Insurance and Portability Act/HIPAA), and increasingly strict review by Institutional Review Boards all can affect the conduct of research. What practices and training are required to continue our research under these changing conditions?
