Abstract:

An imputation approach for instrument with item nonrespondents in clinical research is proposed. The proposed method provides consistent estimators, which are asymptotically normal. A jackknife procedure is also proposed to estimate the asymptotic variance of the derived estimators. A simulation study was conducted to study the finite sample performance of the derived estimators. Simulation results indicated that the finite sample distribution of the derived estimators can be well-approximated by its asymptotic distribution with a moderate sample size. It also shows that the estimators based on the imputed data set are more efficient than the estimator based on the completers.
