This paper details the 70-year history of the Albany ASA Chapter. As the premier organization for statisticians in state government service in the capital of New York state, the Albany Chapter has sought to address most of the important statistical issues associated with state government organizations. This local chapter history serves to present a detailed inside look at the issues and concerns experienced by the larger community of applied and government statisticians through times of economic and political change. The paper is organized by historical period starting with the great depression and continuing to the present day.
