Abstract:

Analysis of Quality-adjusted Time Without Symptoms and Toxicities (Q-TWiST) has been gaining more attention in adjuvant cancer trials that assume four progression steps, namely, toxicity, time without symptoms and toxicities, relapse, and death. However, this four-step progression setting is not applicable in the neoadjuvant cancer trials. In this paper, we address the analytical issues of Q-TWiST as an endpoint for the neoadjuvant studies. Examples from the recent oncology trials will be used to demonstrate the applications of this procedure.
