Abstract:

This session will present a brief overview of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Performance Excellence Criteria, followed by a hands-on exercise in which participants will analyze case-study data within the results section of a Baldrige application. A debriefing after the exercise will include presentation of the case-study analysis. Though the Performance Excellence Criteria do not place a strong emphasis on use of statistics, they are central to continuous organizational improvement. The final discussion will provide examples from organizations in the United States and overseas of the application of statistical methods to continuous improvement.
