Each year the Business and Economic Statistics Section of ASA invites a prominent speaker to the Economic Outlook Luncheon; the purpose being to gain statistical and economic insights into the state of the economy. This year's speaker recently retired as Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics and so is uniquely qualified to evaluate activity in the labor market.
