Abstract:

Neural networks have found widespread popularity as a statistical tool. From a theoretical perspective, they are one of a family of nonparametric regression and classification techniques. In practice, they have been found to work well for a wide variety of problems. This roundtable invites discussion on the use of neural networks in real-world applications, as well as aspects of the statistical theory.
