Abstract:
|
A simple method for obtaining lower prediction bounds for a future observation from a Weibull population at design (field use) stress level, using data from an accelerated life test run at two or more higher than design stress levels, is proposed. This is a generalization of a method proposed by the authors for the more restrictive two-level accelerated tests. The method accommodates Type II censored data and assumes an inverse power relationship between the scale parameter and the stress level. Monte Carlo simulations show that the proposed bounds come very close to providing nominal coverage. A modified version, based on an ad-hoc adjustment, performs even better, giving nominal or higher than nominal coverage within simulation error.
