Abstract:
|
In dimension reduction for regression, we seek to construct a parsimonious summary by reducing the dimension of the predictor vector without loss of information on the conditional distribution of the response given the predictors and without requiring a pre-specified parametric model. We will review dimension reduction in regression, focusing on progress in the past 10 years and directions for the future. This presentation is intended in part to establish the background for the subsequent talks by F. Chiaromonte and B. Li in the same session.
