Description

Researchers use sample surveys to obtain information in a wide variety of areas. Many surveys are based on probability-based complex sample designs, including stratified selection, clustering, and unequal weighting. To make statistically valid inferences from the sample to the study population, the data analysis needs to take the study design into account. This workshop describes how to select probability samples and analyze survey data with SAS Software. Through examples, this workshop demonstrates how to: Select probability samples using various designs with PROC SURVEYSELCT; compute descriptive statistics, such as means, totals, and their standard errors, with PROC SURVEYMEANS; and fit linear regression models and produce hypothesis tests and estimates with PROC SURVEYREG. The audience should have a basic understanding of regression theory.
