Description

The course will cover advances in regression, data transformations, generalized linear models and multivariate analysis which come from the forward search. This robust Procedure uses highly informative new graphics to provide methods of determining the effect of individual observations on inferences drawn from the data and of detecting models inadequacies . The course is based, in part, on our 2000 Springer book " Robust Diagnostic Regression Analysis ". A Technometrics invited talk at the JSM 2000 on part of this work was excellently received (chair : Karen Kafadar ) and led to the suggestion of giving a course on this material. Some software for S-plus has been developed and will be used in computer workshops, if the Committee feels this is appropriate. A first course in regression would be an appropriate prerequisite.
