Description

The census enumerator is a key element in the timely completion and accuracy of Census 2000. Management of such a large, geographically dispersed staff is challenging, and many lessons have been learned through research reported in this session. Topics presented examine the management practices applied in Census 2000, automation of field operations, personnel recruitment and training, personnel practices such as pay rate and their effect on staff performance, and training methods for non-response follow-up staff
