Description

This session will present two papers that develop functional models and illustrate their use on data from the physical sciences. The first paper uses functional data-analytic methods for dimension reduction to discriminate among types of radar signals. The second paper presents functional networks in a more general framework and illustrates the use in a variety of contexts. These papers demonstrate that function-based methods can be useful in solving increasingly complex problems faced by the applied statistician today.
