Description

There is tremendous recent interest in the economic evaluation of health care. Many clinical trials collect data on cost of treatment so that efficacy can be evaluated in light of the cost. A major challenge arises when total costs are censored due to staggered patient entry or study termination. Further challenges arise because of intrinsic difficulties associated with estimation of ratios. Many erroneous approaches for rigorous evaluation of medical cost have been suggested in the economic literature and used in practice. This session features prominent speakers who will discuss both practical and theoretical aspects of health economics.
