Description
This session will focus on the computational issues involved in the entire process of dealing with large data analysis projects, from the data preprocessing step, through the actual clustering/classification/etc. algorithms, and up to presenting the end-results. This topic is broad enough to let the speakers focus on either specific algorithms, or on their overall data mining framework, including parallel implementations, object-oriented design etc. It would also attract people from different backgrounds, thus contributing to the still needed cross-fertilization among various fields. The list of confirmed particiaptes emphasizes links to the computer science community, an often underrepresented group at JSM.
