Description

Both inside the NSF and elsewhere, statistical scientists are uniquely positioned affect progress in the information age. Exciting new developments in funding federal emphases have opened and enlivened research and education opportunities in the mathematical sciences, particularly in statistics. The momentum is building to not only publicly discuss the new avenues available for our discipline, but also to share invigorating shifts that will have profound impact of the manner and direction in which our discipline conducts research, educates, and collaborates. The proposed session will describe the new directions NSF is taking in the statistical sciences and funding opportunities within the mathematical sciences; social, behavioral, and social sciences; and cross-disciplinary NSF-wide initiatives. Time will be provided to hear further ideas for research in the statistical sciences.
