This session covers nonresponse-related government survey research across several demographic surveys. It includes discussion of the characteristics of late/difficult interviews in the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) and American Community Survey (ACS). These papers also discuss whether critical survey estimates would be different without the late/difficult cases represented. The session also includes a paper that examines the impact nonresponse has on survey estimates in a federal household survey. Finally, the use of targeted incentives for reluctant respondents in a welfare survey will be presented including a discussion on response rates and data quality .
