Description
In Spring of 2000 two new statistical agency advisory committees met for the first time. The two new advisory committees are the Federal Economics Statistics Advisory Committee (FESAC) and the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) Advisory Committee. FESAC is a joint BEA, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), and Bureau of the Census (BOC) academic advisory committee. The advisory committee members were asked to consider some of the hottest issues facing the agencies. At the proposed session, three of these issues will be presented to JSM attendees. These include: measurement of e-commerce and the electronic economy, measurement of banking, and comparing the Business Establishment List (BEL) to the Standard Statistical Establishment List (SSEL) list. A representative from each of the agencies will give the highlights of the presentations before the advisory committees. What do you think about these issues? How would you answer some of the questions posed to the advisory committees? What would your perspective be if you were an advisory committee member?
