Description
The Census Bureau has completed its program of measuring and correcting for the undercount in the 2000 Census. This session reports on the accuracy of the traditional census results and program used to measure and correct for the undercount. The first paper describes the Accuracy and Coverage Evaluation, giving an overview of the design, a report on the operational success and the results as they relate to Census coverage and Census accuracy. The second paper reports on the Census Bureau's independent assessment of Census accuracy: the Demographic Analysis program. How well did both the traditional Census and the A.C.E. measure the total population? The third paper reports in detail on the assessment that the Census Bureau conducted of the A.C.E. itself. How well was the A.C.E. conducted? Together, these three papers will reveal what is known about the 2000 undercount and the Census Bureau's program to correct it.
