Abstract

Suicide is a major national public health issue in the whole world. In 2016, there were 44,965 recorded suicides in the USA, up from 29,446 in 1985, according to the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between suicide numbers and age, gender, and GDP. The model is fitted by a GLM model such as Poisson distribution, negative binomial distribution. Descriptive statistics and fit models were obtained using SAS and R software to demonstrate the relationship between suicide numbers and these predictors It was finally found that the number of suicides was negatively correlated with total GDP and positively correlated with population growth. And the number of suicides in the UK is affected by predictors higher than the number of suicides in the United States. Male suicides in both countries were more severe than women.
