Recurrent marker processes, such as repeated hospitalizations and medical costs, often exhibit certain terminal behavior before informative terminal events, such as death. For example, medical costs tend to increase in a short period of time before death. To study such a terminal behavior, we propose a semiparametric three level regression model to study jointly the survival time, recurrent event processes and marker processes before failure events. Statistical methods are proposed using risk set methodologies.
