PRIDIT, a combination of PCA and Ridit scoring, has been used to rank hospitals by quality. We expand on this by showing how the additional use of bootstrapping can be used to distinguish between hospitals for a given level of statistical significance. Using national data from Hospital Compare, we apply the estimator to a sample of hospitals in Philadelphia. By calculating the standard error of our quality scores, we show that some hospitals are in clusters of similar quality, while others are outliers at the extremes of the quality distribution.
