Introductory Overview Lecture: Data Integration and Data Linking/Matching

BLADE: A practical example of business data linking (309956)

*Alan Herning, Australian Bureau of Statistics

There is a wealth of information about businesses that is held across all levels of Australian governments in the form of administrative data and directly collected survey data, most of which had only been used for analytical and research purposes in isolation. Combining these high value data sources provides a solid evidence base for research, productivity analysis, policy development and evaluation in Australia. This lecture will introduce the Business Longitudinal Analysis Data Environment (BLADE), a statistical asset maintained by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), that integrates directly collected ABS business surveys data, administrative data from various government sources to an integrating frame to enable detailed microdata analysis for Australian researchers
