Adapting a Census Publication Program to Changes to the 2017 Census of Agriculture Questionnaire (307940)

Redesigning the 2017 Census of Agriculture form to incorporate the revised demographic questions led to a need to redesign the publication tables. After review of the existing publication, the National Agricultural Statistics Service sought the guidance of a second external panel for recommendations on the most appropriate way to publish the revised data items. One challenge faced was the need to provide at least some data items that would allow comparisons across census cycles. In this paper, we discuss the final publication tables, and the communications to stakeholders explaining the program changes.
