An inclusive and exhaustive Statistical Business Register (SBR) is the backbone for producing survey based economic statistics and an important element of a National Statistical Organisation’s statistical infrastructure. It provides the populations of statistical units and their characteristics, serves as a central data source for querying legal units, enterprises and enterprise groups, and can provide links to administrative units and registers, as a central data source, enabling the use of administrative data for statistical purposes. This moderated discussion will examine a variety of aspects and challenges in continuous development and maintenance of an SRB necessary to meet the expectations of today and of the future.
