Norbert Rainer
Norbert Rainer studied Economics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, from where he received his doctorate. He continued at the University as Assistant and then as a Lecturer, and in 1977 joined the staff of Statistics Austria, sharing his time with the University. He has also worked in Eurostat, and is currently head of the Registers, Classifications and Methods Division of Statistics Austria.
He has been Editor of the Journal of the Austrian Statistical Society and Secretary of the International Input-Output Association. He has undertaken more than 30 missions as statistical adviser to various countries and been author or co-author of numerous articles on economic statistics, national accounts, input-output analysis, economic classifications, business registers, statistical quality and response burden.
