How to Avoid Common Graphical Mistakes Biostatisticians Make
View Presentation *Naomi Robbins, NBR Keywords: charts and graphs, misleading graphs, and confusing graphs This session will illustrate common mistakes that many biostatisticians and other professionals make when using graphs and tables to display data. A number of common mistakes are described. These include problems with scales, problems using error bars, not making the data stand out, problems with tick marks and labels, and issues when grouping several charts. In addition, a few tips will be given for creating better tables. We end with some useful little-known graph forms that communicate the data more clearly than the everyday graphs that are more commonly used.
