TL8: Utility-Weighted Endpoints in Clinical Trials
*Pablo E. Bonangelino, CDRH/FDA Keywords: utility, utility weight, benefit-risk, cost, Bayesian, clinical trials It is possible to weight endpoints, such as the treatment difference or a major adverse events composite, with a utility weight. This makes possible cost-effectiveness comparisons, benefit-risk assessments and sensitivity analyses by varying the utility weights. Methods for implementing the above approach include Bayesian beta-binomial models and resampling methods. We will discuss how utility weighted endpoints can be applied in actual clinical trials.
