A Matching Procedure for Double Sampling for Variables (305361)

Double sampling approaches commonly appear in attributes sampling standards such as ISO 2859 and are a popular approach to efficiently disposition batches. Less common are a double sampling approaches for variables quality characteristics. When variables sampling is appropriate and a double sampling scheme preferred, some approaches have been considered whereby the operating characteristic (OC) curves from attributes plans are matched. The work presented in this poster reviews existing approaches and further proposes an alternate approach focused on practical implementation. The method uses existing OC matching framework along with other common expectations. These include a desire for the OC curves for the first stage matches the corresponding attributes plan first stage as well as an expectation that n1 = n2.
