This panel-formatted session will provide current and aspiring statistical practitioners with tips and tools to address one of their major challenges. In statistical consultations and collaborations, unfortunate situations can arise that prevent statistician and collaborator(s) from developing or maintaining an effective working relationship. This can happen regardless of the years of experience of the statistician. In this session, successful statistical consultants will discuss difficult situations that they have faced in their years of working with clients from academia, government, and industry. In their discussions, and while fielding questions from the audience, they will describe what they have learned from these experiences and will provide practical suggestions on how such situations can be avoided or resolved. This information will prove invaluable to all statistical consultants and collaborators, regardless of their specializations, and will improve the quality of their working relationships.
