For years, collaborative statisticians have asked to be involved in the planning stages of research projects. Thanks to the addition of statistical reviewers on grant review panels, and assorted other factors, we are finally being asked to join PIs at the table. So, what are the best practices and some tips at being an effective team player? From knowing the difference from an R01, K01, U01, sussing out the research question(s), drafting an analysis plan and sample size calculation, to projecting effort allocation, and how the overall grant review process works, this panel will share their experiences over lengthy careers in academic medical research centers to help you become a better collaborative grant writer. Note: we would like to have a panel that lasts an entire session.
