It is important for statistical consultants to have systematic approaches to ensure efficiency, integrity, and satisfaction with clients. This presentation will demonstrate a consulting approach designed to incorporate quality assurance metrics, reproducibility methods, and productivity documentation. We will explore how to create a useful intake form, how to conduct a guided interview for project planning, and how to document your client interactions. We will also provide practical tips for the continuum of statistical consulting, including how to perform a “history and physical’ of the data, how to incorporate quality assurance checklists for statistical analyses and data appraisal, and how to document your statistical analyses (programming). Finally, we will illustrate how to organize and present a final report that is manuscript friendly. This presentation will benefit statistical consultants at all levels of experience and who work in a variety of settings.
