What do you do when you are part of an organization that is steeped in "tribal knowledge" and experience driving decisions rather than analytics-based decision making? As statisticians, we see the possibilities of how to appropriately use data and analysis to inform and drive business decisions, yet we often falter in getting leadership bought in. I'll take you through my marathon journey of getting leadership to view statistics outside the light of experimental design and quality sampling plans to a powerful practice that can inform critical business decisions and processes. My journey goes from motivating leadership to support a topic that they are not experts in, picking the right initial projects, through finishing the final mile and getting business partners to take action and gain value on the analysis results.
