In a Fortune 100 company, statisticians and data scientists are often decentralized, leading to development inconsistencies, duplicate efforts, lack of cross-group learning, and product/process inefficiencies. We will discuss the creation and ongoing challenges, opportunities, and positive business impact of developing a cross-company Data Science Center of Excellence, now in its 3rd year. The audience will learn about the pros/cons of bottoms up/tops down DS CoE initiatives, what works/doesn't work, and have in hand a framework of how to create a DS CoE in their own company.
