Influencing an Organization: Preparation Meets Opportunity (303166)

*Sarah Kalicin, Intel Corporation

Keywords: Influence, Organizational impact, Strategy

Many organizations need to embrace data and statistical methodologies to speed business decisions and increase efficiency, yet struggle with full adoption of these methodologies for their benefit. Such organizations often have low analytic maturity with very limited data infrastructure to support successful adoption. It can seem like a chicken and egg scenario: to implement the right infrastructure, methodologies need to be adopted while organizations must value the proposition through both financial and personnel investment; methodologies are hard to adopt without the right infrastructure, since many non-statistical colleagues are unwilling to do additional up-front work, even if they see long-term benefits. The author discusses the strategies she employed, by evaluating the organization, establishing a strategy, identifying key stakeholders to support the changes, and preparing the organization to make this necessary journey. Participants will learn how to use these components to break the chicken/egg cycle: influence organizations to better leverage data assets, obtain full organizational support for the initiative, and implement these methodologies for better business impact.
