Inference: Just what can be said?
View Presentation View Presentation *Dennis L Eggett, Brigham Young University

Keywords: inference, observational studies, randomization

One of the biggest problems with many studies is that they over state the results. Many researchers cannot resist the urge to claim cause and effect. They also want to generalize to a much larger population than is reasonable. The scope of inference is one of the most important statistical concepts that practitioners need to convey to their clients. These issues will be discussed along with examples, both good and bad.
