Opportunities abound, and are increasing, for statisticians to influence many areas of drug development. Thousands of statisticians working across the spectrum of drug development underscore the relevance of a statistical skillset in the pharmaceutical industry. Statisticians form an integral part of regulatory teams tasked with the responsibility of making decisions related to safety and efficacy of pharmaceutical products This session will feature presentations from Gary Sullivan and John Scott on “Growing Your Influence in Drug Development”. Gary will speak from the industry perspective while John will approach the topic from a regulatory perspective. Both presentations will highlight the importance of statistical leadership and the foundational elements of statistical leadership in a pharmaceutical setting with an emphasis on judgment, decision making, and effective communication. A panel discussion featuring prominent statisticians across regulatory, industry, and academia will follow the presentations. The panelists will discuss topics and questions to complement the presentations with their own experiences and perspectives.
