Statistical learning, artificial intelligence and big data have become “hot” topics and intensive areas of research in quantitative fields including statistics, computer science, data science, etc. In this presentation, an overview of statistical learning and AI applications in drug development will be provided. These will include variable screening in high throughput biomarker data, identification of adverse events in safety statistics and determination of risk factors in late stage clinical development. Main focus of the presentation will be on utility and potential added value of these methods.
