After development of a new instrument for clinical outcomes with content validity, quantitative data are needed to describe the properties of the new measurement and assess its reliability in terms of both inter-rater and test-retest agreement or consistency. The instruments typically used in clinical research may include imaging (e.g. endoscopic and facial images), biopsy readings, or patient-reported questionnaires collecting outcomes of interest. In this session, we will discuss several statistical considerations regarding inter-rater and test-retest reliability assessments for photo-numeric scales and patient-reported questionnaires used in clinical trials.
