*Scott R Evans, George Washington University

Keywords: communication

Learning statistics is one thing. Learning to be a statistician is another. Effective communication is paramount for successful application of statistics. However communication is common historical challenge for statisticians. Stories are a fundamental instrument of thought and a powerful tool for communicating, learning, and teaching. The storyteller can talk with the audience rather than at them, allowing the audience to more effectively understand the issues and connect with the messages. Using stories to improve communication is discussed.
