TL20-How Data Visualization Can Help the Exploration of Clinical Trial Data (301108)

*Meijing Wu, Abbvie Inc.

Keywords: data visualization, clinical trial

The breakthrough in sciences and technologies continues to revolutionize the drug development and improve patients’ life. In addition to safety and benefit-risk of a drug, the business needs arise rapidly for concise communication of the scientific messages on drug’s efficacy and effectiveness to the scientific community or HCPs or stake holders in an effective and concise manner. Thus more advanced analytics are investigated to generate medical insights using clinical trial data and facilitate the scientific communication as well as the decision making. Managing and analyzing the vast amounts of data collected remains one of the biggest challenges of any clinical trial. Traditional analyses of clinical trial data usually generated piles of tables and listings, which is hard to be interpreted and could not be directly used for communication. Clinical Data Visualization is the concept that data can be structured and viewed through a variety of charts and graphs to facilitate analysis. The idea is not to replace the common reporting of a clinical trial but rather to support it by increasing quality of clinical trial reporting, sharing and presenting results to the scientific community in a more intuitive and efficient way. In this section, we would like to invite you to discuss how we can use data visualization to help the exploration and interpretation of clinical trial data.
