Capturing Subject Matter Expertise for Automated Assisted Analysis (304671)

Presentation

*William Szewczyk, Mathematics Research Group, National Security Agency

Keywords: Analytics, Analysis, Workflow, Machine-assistance

The bottleneck in developing new methods for assisting analysis is often not the analytics themselves, but capturing the analytic process of the subject matter expert (SME). Very often the SME and technologist speak very different languages. To overcome this, we have developed a repeatable process which allows us to capture the SME’s analysis process in ever increasing resolution. This enables a more faithful representation of the entire process, making it easier to make appropriate decisions as to where to insert analytics.
