Real-time analytics is a hot topic within the realm of human performance, with an ever growing industry developing to support this demand. Many options are available to both professional and amateur athletes and/or sports organizations. These analytics can be used to monitor group trends, provide up to date individual profiles, and generate automated recommendations. Clear successes or failures can be defined based off wins and losses or progress towards performance goals. However, within the military, with ever changing definitions for wins and losses or performance goals, defining “success” requires agile and flexible data systems. In this environment, statistics truly becomes the foundation for innovation. Through a solid foundation of statistical knowledge, military requirements can be translated to flexible data capture forms and appropriate analytical choices can be planned and implemented followed by AI processing to automate real-time reporting. This paper will discuss some of the considerations unique to the military environment and will provide two use cases of the utilization of statistical knowledge to innovate real-time analytics for a US Special Operations Command.
